About Us

Desert View Funeral Home was established in 2006 by Floyd Valdez. Floyd began working in the funeral home industry at 17 years old in 1977. He dreamed of opening his own funeral home for over 29 years until his vision came true in 2006 when he established Desert View Funeral Home in Shiprock, New Mexico. Having over 35 years of experience, he was renowned for his professionalism, respectfulness, and cared for every family as if they were his own. As the Lord blessed him, Floyd continued to expand his vision in building a facility that our Diné people could be proud of. Floyd was welcomed into his Heavenly Home on December 29, 2020. He had such a remarkable, wonderful soul, leaving a positive impact on everyone he ever met.
